Job Overview:

As an Architectural Job Captain specializing in hospital projects, you will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the design and documentation process for healthcare facilities. You will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that hospital designs meet regulatory standards, client expectations, and project deadlines. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare design principles, building codes, and the unique challenges associated with hospital projects, both new builds and renovations alike.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination: Lead the coordination and development of architectural drawings and documentation for hospital projects, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Liaising with engineers and other disciplines is a must. 

Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to the design team, ensuring that all aspects of hospital design, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, are integrated effectively.

Client Interaction: Act as a point of contact for clients, participating in meetings,etc.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all hospital designs comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations, including healthcare facility guidelines and building codes.

Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality control process for architectural documentation, conducting reviews, and ensuring that all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality.

Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior staff members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.

Construction Administration: Assist in the construction administration phase, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs (Requests for Information), and conducting site visits to ensure the project is built according to design intent.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in architectural documentation and technical documentation, with a strong focus on healthcare and hospital projects.

Proficiency in architectural software, including Revit, and other industry-standard tools.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian building codes, healthcare facility guidelines, and regulations.

Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, consultants, and team members.

Experience with sustainable design practices and LEED accreditation is an asset.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
