Intermediate Structural Engineer
Role Overview:
Our client is searching for a skilled Structural Engineer to join their esteemed team. This role involves designing and managing structural engineering projects, ensuring that all deliverables meet high standards of quality and compliance. As a Structural Engineer, you will work closely with other engineering professionals and clients to develop effective solutions for various projects. Location:
This position is available at any of our clients offices: Kitchener, Hamilton, Toronto, or Calgary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze structural components and systems for a range of projects, including new construction, renovations, and assessments.
- Develop and review detailed engineering calculations, models, drawings, and specifications.
- Collaborate with project teams and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and effective solutions.
- Engage with clients to understand their requirements, provide project updates, and ensure their expectations are met.
- Conduct site visits to review construction progress and verify that work meets design specifications and standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support their professional development.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing and building client relationships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Structural Engineering or a related field; a Masters degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA or PEO.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects.
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RISA, Revit).
- Strong understanding of building codes, seismic design, and structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
