**About the Role:**

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Architect to lead and manage complex architectural projects from concept through to completion in their Edmonton office. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a passion for design excellence, sustainability, and innovation. You will oversee design teams, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality architectural solutions. You will also define project scope, establish design criteria, and ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, and company procedures, providing expert technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

**What You Will Do:**

**Marketing and Business Development:**

  • Participate in proposal development, client presentations, and critical external engagements, providing technical support for marketing initiatives.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities, contributing to the company's financial growth and expansion.
  • Build and maintain relationships to support business development in the local market.

**Project Leadership:**

  • Lead and coordinate architectural design teams on complex projects, ensuring alignment with goals and timelines.
  • Develop and define the scope of architectural services in collaboration with clients, establishing design criteria that meet project requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on innovative design solutions and construction techniques.

**Design Oversight and Approval:**

  • Review and approve technical documentation, including specifications, schematic diagrams, and building plans.
  • Ensure project schedules, budgets, and procedures are met, while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

**Team Leadership, Management, and Technical Guidance:**

  • Supervise architects, technologists, designers, and support staff, ensuring deliverables are of the highest quality.
  • Provide technical guidance, assess team performance, and make recommendations for staff training and development.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, client focus, teamwork, sustainability, and community in daily practices.

**Multidisciplinary Collaboration:**

  • Leverage knowledge in architecture, engineering, and construction to recommend innovative solutions and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term planning efforts, offering insights that support the company's strategic direction and growth.

**Problem Solving and Innovation:**

  • Analyze architectural challenges and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Serve as a company representative in critical external engagements, including dispute resolution with clients, consultants, and contractors.

**Client and Stakeholder Relations:**

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and external agencies, acting as the primary point of contact throughout project phases.
  • Provide expert guidance on design processes and construction methods.

**What You Bring to the Table:**

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • 15+ years of architectural design experience, with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects.
  • Registered Architect with a valid license to practice in the relevant province or country.
  • Proficiency in architectural software (AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite) and advanced skills in 3D modeling and rendering.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management abilities, with experience in budgeting, scheduling, and contract negotiation.
  • Business acumen and the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
