Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Must be able to go to all of the head offices, Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener

About the Opportunity:

City Build Recruitment is excited to offer an opportunity for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our clients dynamic and innovative team. This role will focus on providing technical guidance within the electrical practice, ensuring quality assurance, and developing and managing technical standards and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead Electrical Design on Projects:

- Direct the electrical design portion of projects of various sizes and scopes on a fully integrated design team.

- Develop the scope of work, manage engineering budgets and schedules, and lead the technical direction of the electrical design.

- Coordinate with design team members, correspond directly with clients and suppliers, perform engineering calculations, and prepare and review technical reports.

- Quality Assurance and Technical Standards:

- Provide quality assurance for electrical scope on various projects.

- Develop, maintain, and oversee electrical technical standards and processes.

- Client and Supplier Coordination:

- Coordinate and communicate with clients on scope and development of projects.

- Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and other design disciplines.

- Coordinate with authorities and service providers (i.e., ESA, Hydro, Bell, etc.).

- Design and Calculations:

- Develop concepts, schematic, and developed designs for electrical project scope including lighting, power, and systems.

- Complete electrical service and distribution systems calculations and equipment selection.

- Oversee lighting design (indoor and outdoor) including fixture, lamp, ballast selection, and lighting calculations to IES standards.

- Conduct electrical systems design for building code compliance.

- Documentation and Reporting:

- Coordinate the preparation of drawing documentation and prepare specifications for project bid packages.

- Complete technical analysis and prepare reports.

- Provide detailed electrical capital cost estimates.

- Site Surveys and Assessments:

- Perform site surveys and site assessments, field reviews, and address coordination questions throughout construction.

Potential Additional Responsibilities:

- People Leadership:

- Provide coaching, mentorship, career development, and recognition for the next generation of talent.

- Manage performance, set goals, and maintain accountability for direct reports.

- Business Development:

- Assist with and work on business development through client acquisition, fee estimates, RFP response preparation, and issuing fee proposal letters.

- Participate in interviews/presentations as required.

- Pursue new clients and opportunities and maintain existing clients.

What We Need:

- Bachelors degree in Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering.

- 10+ years of experience in building electrical systems for projects pertaining to industrial, institutional, commercial, and/or healthcare.

- Licensed member of PEO (P.Eng).

- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (i.e., OBC, OESC, CSA).
