Our client, a leading architecture firm, is on the verge of securing a once-in-a-lifetime project designing the Canadian headquarters for a prestigious high-end retail brand. This multi-year project will encompass a 4-5 story flagship building, integrating workplace, façade, building envelope, and heritage components.
They are seeking a Project Architect to act as the right-hand to the project lead, overseeing a team of 5-6 and driving all aspects of the design and technical execution. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, with expertise in retail architecture and experience working on complex, high-end projects. This is not an interiors-focused role but one requiring deep knowledge of building codes, heritage considerations, façade design, and workplace environments. The project includes stairs, elevators, and other key building infrastructure, requiring a detail-oriented and hands-on approach.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a team of architects and designers throughout the project lifecycle.
-
Oversee design development, technical detailing, and coordination of workplace, façade, heritage, and building envelope components.
-
Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code and other regulatory requirements.
-
Collaborate closely with consultants, engineers, and stakeholders to drive project success.
-
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining design integrity.
-
Work on-site, in-office five days a week, ensuring seamless collaboration with the team and client.
Qualifications:
-
Registered Architect with a strong technical background in retail, commercial, or mixed-use projects.
-
10+ years of experience, with a track record of leading large-scale, high-end projects.
-
Expertise in heritage restoration, façade design, and workplace environments.
-
Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility, and technical coordination.
-
Experience managing stairs, elevators, and other complex architectural elements.
-
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and project management software.
-
Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
This is an in-office role, five days per week, reflecting the firms commitment to collaboration and design excellence. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering an iconic, high-profile project that will redefine high-end retail in Canada.
Interested candidates should apply with a resume and portfolio showcasing relevant experience.
