About the Opportunity

City Build Recruitment is thrilled to partner with our client, a dynamic and rapidly expanding multidisciplinary firm in Calgary. They are seeking a talented and visionary Director of Interior Design to lead their thriving interior design team, which focuses on high-profile projects across a variety of sectors including commercial, education, airports, healthcare, and hospitality.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate design leader looking to make a significant impact. You will not only guide and inspire a team of skilled designers, but you'll also help develop new client relationships and explore emerging sectors. The ideal candidate is someone driven by growth and eager to elevate the firm's interior design services to new heights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a growing interior design team of 6 across multiple sectors, fostering creativity and collaboration.
• Oversee the design and execution of projects in commercial, education, airports, healthcare, and hospitality spaces.
• Develop and implement strategic growth initiatives, including client acquisition and expansion into new sectors.
• Act as the primary client contact, ensuring design excellence and client satisfaction from concept to completion.
• Collaborate with other disciplines within the firm to ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Maintain a strong understanding of current market trends, materials, and sustainable design practices.
• Represent the firm at industry events, positioning the interior design team as a leader in the Calgary market.

What Our Client is Looking For:

• 10+ years of experience in interior design, with a proven track record of leading design teams in commercial or public sector projects.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Interior Design or a related field.
• Experience working across multiple sectors, particularly education, healthcare, hospitality, and commercial.
• Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to inspire a team of interior designers.
• Excellent client development and business growth capabilities, with a keen eye for new opportunities.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both internally and with clients.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering on tight deadlines.
