Senior Project Manager Transportation (Rail & Aviation)

Location: Toronto, ON | Remote with Local Client Meetings
Salary: $140,000 - $180,000 (Depending on Experience)

About the Opportunity

City Build Recruitment is working with a leading consultancy to identify a Senior Project Manager with expertise in rail and aviation infrastructure. This role is ideal for professionals with an architecture background and experience in architecture firms working on transit projects, or engineers with experience in architectural firms specializing in transportation infrastructure.

The successful candidate will lead large-scale rail and aviation projects, including Metrolinx, TTC, GO Transit, Ontario Line, and airport expansions. This role requires a client-facing leader who excels at team coordination, financial management, risk mitigation, and scope control while ensuring seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Oversee major transportation infrastructure projects, including Metrolinx, TTC, GO Transit, Ontario Line, and airport projects.
• Client Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison with transit authorities, government agencies, and aviation stakeholders.
• Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, control costs, and ensure the financial health of projects.
• PCN & Scope Management: Develop and oversee Proposed Change Notices (PCNs) while preventing scope creep.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Metrolinx, TTC, aviation, and municipal transit regulations, as well as provincial building codes.
• Risk Mitigation: Identify potential challenges and implement strategies to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Team Coordination: Lead multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Degree in architecture or engineering, with experience in architecture firms specializing in transit projects.
• Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of project management experience in rail or aviation infrastructure, with direct experience in Metrolinx, TTC, GO Transit, Ontario Line, or airport development.
• Leadership: Strong ability to manage teams, mentor staff, and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Financial Acumen: Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Ontario transit and aviation regulations, procurement processes, and public infrastructure requirements.
• Client-Facing Expertise: Must be well-spoken and comfortable managing high-level client relationships and presentations.
