We are looking for a Head of Physical Education Primary for an International School based in Shanghai. This is a full-time position starting from August 2025 academic year.

Job responsibilities

  • Teach subjects of PE to students in primary education
  • Lead the PE department, overseeing curriculum design, staff training, and departmental goals aligned with school/institutional standards
  • Manage PE teachers, coaches, and support staff, including performance reviews and professional development
  • Design and implement a progressive PE curriculum that promotes physical literacy, teamwork, and lifelong fitness
  • Integrate competitive sports, health education, and extracurricular activities
  • Ensure inclusive participation for all students, adapting programs for diverse abilities and needs.
  • Oversee risk assessments, equipment maintenance, and compliance with health/safety regulations.
  • Manage the PE budget, including procurement of equipment, uniforms, and facility upgrades.
  • Coordinate with external organizations (e.g., sports clubs, community groups) to enhance program offerings.
  • Monitor student progress in physical skills, health knowledge, and sportsmanship.
  • Report to senior leadership on departmental outcomes, event successes, and areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher status with 3-5 years of teaching experience
  • Willingness to teach across 3-4 grade levels
  • Knowledge of world-class science curriculums, including UK and International, and their assessment methods
  • Proficiency in addressing individual needs through differentiated instruction and diverse learning strategies

Salary and benefits

  • Monthly salary of 29,000 to 35,000 RMB commensurate with experience and qualifications
