Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced CDL Class A Truck Driver with to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of safe driving and the ability to handle long-distance and regional routes efficiently. This role involves transporting goods across regional and national routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and adhering to all state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Class A Vehicles: Safely drive combination vehicles (tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, etc.) with a Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) of 26,001 lbs or more, ensuring the secure and efficient transport of goods.
- Route Management: Plan and follow assigned routes, navigating interstates and highways to deliver goods to specified locations in a timely manner.
- Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform routine vehicle inspections to ensure safe operating conditions, checking tires, brakes, lights, and other critical components before and after each trip.
- Compliance with Regulations: Follow all DOT and FMCSA regulations, including hours of service (HOS) requirements. Maintain accurate logbooks, fuel records, and other required documentation.
- Cargo Management: Secure cargo according to legal and safety standards, ensuring proper weight distribution and stability. Assist with loading and unloading as necessary.
- Timely Deliveries: Ensure on-time delivery of goods, managing any road delays and updating the dispatcher on delivery status.
- Vehicle Maintenance Reporting: Report any vehicle malfunctions or necessary repairs to the Fleet Manager and coordinate timely maintenance to prevent delays or downtime.
- Accident and Incident Reporting: Immediately report any accidents, traffic violations, or issues that occur during deliveries, adhering to company policies and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- CDL Class A License: Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience driving Class A vehicles (e.g., tractor-trailers, flatbeds, etc.).
- Endorsements (preferred but not required):
- HazMat (H) Endorsement: For drivers transporting hazardous materials.
- Tanker (N) Endorsement: For drivers hauling large liquid containers.
- Doubles/Triples (T) Endorsement: For operating multi-trailer combinations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50lbs, perform manual labor associated with loading/unloading, and sit for extended periods.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication to work with dispatchers, clients, and team members.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to adapt to unexpected situations, including weather or traffic conditions.
