Job Openings Managing Director EMI

About the job Managing Director EMI

Our client is a fast-growing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) headquartered in Vilnius, has German roots, and has been serving international clients with payments and financial services since 2020. They operate in a higher-risk (no crypto), high-impact environment having compliance as a cornerstone of their operations.

We are looking for a Managing Director who will own the next stage of scale: tighten the control environment, speed up compliant growth, and make our AML/KYC stack faster and smarter without adding risk.

Responsibility:

  • Lead the company day-to-day and set a clear operating rhythm (OKRs, KPIs, committees)
  • Be the main contact for the Bank of Lithuania, auditors, and key partners; keep us inspection-ready
  • Upgrade AML/CTF, sanctions, KYC/KYB, and transaction monitoring with automation (screening, case management, rule tuning, MI dashboards)
  • Strengthen payments & FX operations (treasury oversight, liquidity coordination, incident/change management, vendor SLAs)
  • Guide product governance (accounts/IBANs, cards, payments) and manage banks, processors, and critical vendors
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team; bring clarity, pace, and accountability

Qualification:

  • Residency in Lithuania (must-have)
  • Extensive experience in banking/payments/EMI with GM/Board-level responsibility
  • Proven track record with the Bank of Lithuania (licensing, inspections, remediation)
  • Deep experience in transaction banking, international payments, and FX
  • Hands-on compliance/AML leadership, ideally with delivered automation (less manual work, fewer false positives, better MI)
  • Comfortable operating in enhanced-due-diligence environments (e.g., regulated digital assets under EU frameworks, cross-border commodities, select global content platforms) while keeping a disciplined risk appetite
  • Strong communication in Lithuanian & English (other languages a plus)

Why join:

  • Even though residency in Lithuania is a must, you don't have to work from there all the time
  • An established, self-sustaining EMI with real clients and room to scale
  • High autonomy, direct impact, and a practical build agenda (not theory)
  • Competitive executive package under Lithuanian employment law
