Job Summary: The Business Developer is responsible for creating new customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have an extensive network of contacts and relationships within the wholesale distribution sector and a proven track record of securing new business opportunities. This role involves such things as developing new customer relationships and supporting existing relations. We are seeking a well-connected business development representative that is a proactive problem solver that has experience supporting revenue growth, customer acquisition levels, profitability and is proven to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Acquisition: Identify and develop new business opportunities through personal networks, cold calling, networking events and industry-specific channels. Help meet Company revenue targets.
  • Relationship Building: Leverage existing relationships and contacts to secure new accounts and foster long-term partnerships. Develop and maintain relationships with accounts with Company, as assigned.
  • Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients, understand their needs and position our [products/services] effectively. Stay up-to-date with product knowledge and industry trends to effectively assist current customers. Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve business growth and meet or exceed sales targets. Identify customer needs and pursue new sales opportunities and recommend appropriate products/services to drive sales. Achieve and exceed sales targets and performance metrics. Assist in analyzing customers future requirements for forecasting purposes. Provide monthly sales reports of sales pipeline.
  • Proposal Development: Create and deliver compelling proposals, presentations and pitches to potential clients.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and close deals to maximize profitability while ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers. Respond timely and professionally to customer inquiries via phone, email, chat, Whatsapp, Wechat, Teams and Text. Assist customers with product information, order processing and troubleshooting. Handle customer complaints and provide appropriate solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, product development, customer service and other internal teams, to achieve company goals and ensure a seamless onboarding process and ongoing client satisfaction. Help identify best practices, protocols and processes, as well as make suggestions to improve processes or offerings.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of business development activities, client interactions and sales progress in our CRM system based upon Company protocols. Analyze the territory/markets potential, track sales, and deliver status reports, as well as provide regular reports to Management.

Secondary job accountabilities

  • Job may require travel for sales calls, trade shows, conferences and meetings.
  • On Call Needs - We are a global company and there are times that you may be needed outside of normal business hours.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in business, Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully acquiring new accounts and achieving sales targets.
  • Extensive network of contacts and relationships.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand changing technology.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, goal oriented and a team player.
  • Able to function independently in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities, but also within a team environment.
  • Ability to work at computer and/or communicate by phone for extended periods of time.
