Job Summary:
The Hospital and SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) Rounding Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers by managing clinical documentation, patient communication, and administrative tasks related to hospital and SNF rounds. This role is responsible for preparing hospital and discharge notes, maintaining accurate patient records in the EMR, coordinating referrals and follow-up care, and ensuring timely communication with patients and providers. The ideal candidate has experience as a Medical Assistant, strong knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health record systems, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Availability for rotating weekends, on-call support, and after-hours coverage is required while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibilities include preparation of hospital and discharge notes for providers.
- Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment and test results in the EMR.
- Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and help to answer questions about discharge medications.
- Coordinating the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, and patient medical record maintenance.
- Updating and scanning patients' medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments as necessary for medication refills.
- Responsible for sending patient recommendations and referrals to appropriate departments on a daily basis.
- Ensuring all duties of hospital rounding are addressed in a timely manner.
- Responsible for timely communication with patients.
- Provide on-call support to providers.
- Provide rotating weekend support to providers.
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical assistant role
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Must have strong familiarity with medical terminology.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative.
- Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.
- Available to work weekend hours and outside normal business hours.
