Technical Accounting Team Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Accounting Leader with extensive experience in technical accounting to join our team. This pivotal role requires deep subject matter expertise, particularly in ASC 842 lease accounting, along with exceptional analytical skills and unwavering attention to detail.

As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in driving the financial success of our organization by ensuring timely, accurate, and audit-ready financial reporting for a high-impact area of our business.

Our platform's infrastructure and compute operations represent a high audit-risk area with significant potential for material misstatements. To mitigate these risks, we need a dedicated expert who will bring specialized focus to this critical part of our Financials

Detailed duties & Responsibilities: 

Tactical Accounting: Maintain lease accounting schedules and record adjustments for lease modifications when appropriate.

Ownership of Infrastructure Costs: Manage accounting and financial reporting related to infrastructure and compute costs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.

Lease Accounting Expertise: Oversee all aspects of ASC 842 compliance, including lease classification, recognition, and disclosure requirements.

Cost Allocations: Lead the accurate allocation of costs between Cost of Revenue (CoR) and Research and Development (R&D), aligning with business operations and financial goals.

Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify, evaluate, and address risks related to infrastructure accounting, ensuring audit readiness and minimizing the risk of material misstatements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, R&D, and Operations teams to provide financial insights and ensure alignment between business decisions and financial reporting. Build scalable processes and systems to support the scale-up of the organization

Audit Support: Act as the primary point of contact for auditors in this high-risk area, ensuring thorough documentation and timely responses.

People Leadership. Provide clear direction, set performance expectations, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning

Qualifications:

• Progressive experience in accounting, audit or advisory services

• Deep understanding of artificial intelligence development and platform infrastructure investments as key inputs to its success

• Best-in-class attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy

• Experience working in Netsuite and working with Netgains (lease accounting tool)

• Proven track record (8+ years) in accounting roles with a focus on technical accounting, lease accounting, or infrastructure-related costs.

• In-depth knowledge of ASC 842 and a strong foundation in US GAAP.

• Exceptional ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights.

• Attention to Detail: Rigorous focus on accuracy and completeness in financial reporting.

• Experience building processes, leading cross-functional initiatives, and mentoring teams in high-stakes environments.

• CPA designation preferred, with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience managing a team is preferred,
