Key Responsibilities:
Tableau Administration, Development, and Governance
Manage and administer Tableau Server (not Tableau Cloud), ensuring system stability and security.
Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports for financial analysis and decision-making.
Optimize Tableau performance by managing data extracts, calculated fields, server resources, caching, and load balancing etc..
Enforce best engineering practices like change management, code reviews etc
Implement Role-based access control (RBAC).
Finance Systems Support & Integration
Maintain and support finance systems, ensuring accurate financial reporting and data integrity.
Work closely with the finance and accounting teams to integrate Tableau with Finance 3rd party SaaS vendors (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Zip, Navan, Stripe etc.) and data warehouses (Databricks, Snowflake).
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
Data Analytics
Ensure data accuracy and consistency across financial reporting tools and databases.
Basic SQL proficiency to support financial reporting.
Some experience in data transformation aka ETL.
Process Improvement & Education
Document Tableau development processes, methodologies, and best practices.
Train and mentor junior Tableau developers and business users to improve their Tableau skills and overall adoption of BI solutions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
7 to 10+ years of experience in BI, data visualization, data analytics and financial systems management. Must have Tableau developer experience.
Proficiency in SQL, ETL tools, and database management. Good to have at least a basic understanding of data transformation and data modeling design.
Empathy towards non-technical stakeholders and their day-to-day pain points.
Experience with Finance 3rd party SaaS vendors (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Zip, Workday, Navan, Stripe etc)
Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes, for example experience working at a public company or prepping a private company to be public company ready.
Ability to analyze large datasets and translate them into meaningful financial insights.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with Finance, IT, and Executive teams.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable solving ambiguous problem statements in an early stage environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Tableau certification (Tableau Desktop or Server).
Team Lead experience managing projects that support Finance / Accounting / Corporate Finance stakeholders.
Experienced at integrating Tableau with cloud data warehouses (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.) and REST APIs for data integration.
Even though this is not a people manager role (IC role), it is good to have a successful track record at mentoring and developing junior team members.
