About the job Compliance Officer(External Applications Only)
Description:
To ensure legal compliance with laws, regulations, and rules relevant to the Cashbuild Group of companies in the territories within which the Group operates.
Requirements:
- Relevant university degree (i.e., LLB, BCom etc.).
- Up to date awareness / knowledge of the compliance universe
- At least three years’ experience in legal compliance.
- Practical experience in the application of compliance methodologies.
- Proficient computer literacy (including working knowledge of MS Office) and with working knowledge and ability to learn and understand new systems.

Legal compliance
- Review full suite of Cashbuild and P&L Hardware Way policies and ensure compliance with the relevant legislation for each policy.
- Perform regular reviews and oversight of all policies.
- Ongoing compliance monitoring.
- Co-ordinate implementation of shortcomings requiring remediation of company policies.
- Develop and maintain a compliance framework.
- Ensure legal risk universe is continually update-to-date.
- Monitor, report and advise on critical changes in laws and regulations.
- Support to the Company Secretary in the management of regulatory relationships and other such relevant parties.
- Produce reports as required.
- Research on various matters and fields of law as required.
- Structure, draft, and review contracts, reports and other legal documents from time to time.
- Prepare or conduct or facilitate ongoing employee awareness and training.
Administration and training
- Ensure accurate filing and maintenance of records.
- Administration and implementation of select group-wide compliance training programmes.
- Ensure that all instructions, requests, queries and/or complaints are dealt with efficiently and timeously and escalate where needed.
- Liaise with internal departments to promote clear channels of communication and working relationships.
- Complete other general compliance duties as delegated from time to time.
Non-SA operations
- Ensure applicable ongoing legal compliance by operations outside of South Africa.
- Relationship management with service providers and other stakeholders in foreign jurisdictions.
- Provide multi-jurisdictional legal support.
- Monitor changes in the regulatory landscape of the various legislation, including keeping the Group appraised on proposed changes and new enactments in laws.
Projects
- Initiate, Plan and implement critical statutory compliance projects relevant to the Group and monitor the appropriate implementation thereof by business.
