About the job Estimator
Our client is a leading construction services provider specializing in a diverse range of projects, including commercial office buildings, hospitality venues, life science facilities, technology headquarters, retail centers, and parking structures. To support their continued growth and success, they are seeking an Estimator to join their dynamic team. This role is integral in preparing precise and competitive construction estimates, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the successful execution of groundbreaking projects.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans and specifications in detail and provide pricing and quantities in industry-standard estimate formats.
- Complete construction estimates, including detailed construction estimates, clarifications, summaries, and variances.
- Coordinate with the Operations team to compile, review, and analyze self-perform general requirements materials, labor, equipment, data, environmental factors, and overall costs.
- Set up estimate work plans, including kickoff, check-ins, and review for all major estimates.
- Manage the trade partner bid process, bid pricing, preparing cost analyses, and ensuring timely completion of estimates.
- Serve as a lead estimator on competitive bid projects, including reviewing and managing scope, trade partners, and client bid requirements.
- Track estimates through Trend Logs, Budget Control Systems, or similar techniques.
- Provide estimating support or trade-specific estimating on projects assigned to other Lead Estimators as needed.
- Use existing cost history and available market intelligence to ensure estimates are accurate and competitive.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure strategic alignment and competitiveness.
- Assess risk and ensure all bids and estimates meet client requirements.
- Collaborate with the operations team to communicate deliverables and procurement schedules.
- Comply with and support jurisdictional safety requirements and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a closely related discipline and 3–5 years of construction experience, or 5–8 years of experience in construction estimating without a degree.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents.
- Proficient in quantifying and pricing major construction components and compiling them into standard estimate formats.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Knowledge of estimating programs such as Onscreen, CostX, Building Connected, and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with local construction codes, methods, and pricing.
- Introductory knowledge of project scheduling.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proven ability to manage multiple estimates concurrently.
