Our client is seeking a Lead Solutions Architect – Mobile & Digital Payments to lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance mobile and payment applications. This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, ensuring customer-centric experiences supported by robust, compliant backend systems.

You will provide architectural leadership, guide engineering teams, and collaborate closely with product, UX, operations, and senior stakeholders across the full delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive end-to-end solution architecture for mobile and web-based payment platforms
  • Design secure, scalable, and high-performance systems aligned with business and regulatory requirements
  • Select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools to support long-term platform scalability
  • Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, data protection, and security standards
  • Provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle
  • Guide development teams on architecture, code quality, design standards, and best practices
  • Oversee integration with internal platforms, payment gateways, banking APIs, and third-party services
  • Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards
  • Collaborate closely with product, UX, operations, and technology teams to align architecture with user experience and performance goals
  • Present architectural decisions, trade-offs, and solution approaches to senior leadership
  • Support CI/CD implementation and cloud infrastructure design, including AWS-based environments
  • Monitor system performance and lead optimisation initiatives
  • Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery readiness
  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering strong technical standards and delivery excellence

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 9 years of software development experience, with at least 4 years in an architectural or technical leadership role
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering customer-facing applications, preferably within payments, fintech, or financial services
  • Proven experience in mobile application development (iOS and/or Android) and modern front-end frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Strong backend engineering background using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar
  • Experience designing end-to-end user journeys using wireframes, with a solid understanding of UX principles
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong understanding of payment systems, transaction flows, and security protocols
  • Exposure to cloud-native architectures and AWS environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing engineering teams
  • Results-driven mindset with strong ownership from concept through delivery
