Job Description:
As an EHS Officer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the organization's compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards. You will work closely with employees, management, and regulatory bodies to develop, implement, and monitor effective EHS policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- EHS Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental, health, and safety.
- Ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address potential EHS risks and non-compliance issues.
- Policy and Procedure Development:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Communicate and educate employees on EHS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Review and update policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations or organizational needs.
- Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification activities across the organization.
- Identify potential workplace hazards and develop strategies to mitigate and control risks.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to implement effective controls and preventive measures.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
- Maintain incident reporting systems and documentation.
- Track and analyze incident data to identify trends and implement preventive measures.
- Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
- Conduct EHS induction programs for new employees and contractors.
- Provide ongoing EHS training and education to enhance awareness and knowledge.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency response capabilities.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
- EHS Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor EHS performance.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate EHS performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and submit reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve EHS management systems and processes.
- Implement best practices and industry standards to enhance EHS performance.
- Stay informed about new developments and advancements in EHS practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in EHS roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards.
- Familiarity with industry-specific EHS requirements and best practices.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification techniques.
- Excellent knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience in developing and delivering EHS training programs.
- Proficient in analyzing data and preparing reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Professional certifications in EHS (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are desirable.
