233512 – Project Mechanical Engineer

Design, organise and oversee the construction, operation and maintenance of mechanical and process plant and installations, establish programs for the coordination of manufacturing activities, and ensure the usage of resources is cost-effective.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Project Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective performance and completion of project tasks assigned from time to time.

Key Duties

  1. Perform detailed engineering calculations, simulations, and technical analysis to support mechanical system design and project execution.
  2. Prepare, review, and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation in accordance with applicable standards.
  3. Design and develop mechanical systems, including preparation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), layouts, and general arrangement drawings.
  4. Evaluate, select, and specify mechanical equipment and materials to ensure optimal performance, safety, and cost-efficiency.
  5. Review supplier and vendor proposals, conduct technical assessments, and provide recommendations for procurement decisions.
  6. Assist in project planning, cost estimation, tender preparation, and bid evaluation processes.
  7. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, process, and fabrication personnel, to ensure integrated project delivery.
  8. Support procurement, fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, timelines, and safety standards.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Monitor project progress and provide technical support during all project phases
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards, codes, and workplace health and safety regulations
  • Identify risks and implement engineering solutions to mitigate project and operational issues

Requirements (Graduate Level)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (recognised in Australia or equivalent)
  • Recent graduate or up to 1 year experience (including internships/projects).
  • Basic skills in AutoCAD/SolidWorks and ability to read technical drawings/P&IDs
  • Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of mechanical principles and safety standards
