About the job Marine Technician
- Various life-saving appliances and fire-fighting appliances must be installed, inspected, maintained, and repaired aboard ships while adhering to SOLAS and class rules.
- In accordance with manufacturer instructions and legal requirements, perform routine testing and inspections of lifeboats, liferafts, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and other firefighting apparatus.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults, finding and fixing technical problems quickly and efficiently.
- Maintain and certify LSA/FFA equipment annually while following safety regulations and industry best practices.
- For the sake of regulatory compliance, keep thorough records of all maintenance operations, inspections, and repairs.
- Work together with marine engineers, ship workers, and other interested parties to guarantee the safe and dependable operation of firefighting and life-saving systems aboard ships.
Qualifications:
- Four years or more of experience working in the maritime sector as an LSA/FFA Technician or a comparable position.
- Competent knowledge of SOLAS norms, class regulations, and other pertinent maritime standards.
- Exceptional technical abilities and practical expertise installing, maintaining, and repairing lifeboats, liferafts, fire extinguishers, and related gear.
- Outstanding troubleshooting skills, including the ability to quickly identify and fix equipment issues.
- Meticulous with an emphasis on precision and adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
- Strong communication abilities, including the capacity to work with a variety of teams and convey technical information in an understandable and efficient manner.
