Service Engineer (NavCom)
About the job Service Engineer (NavCom)
- Marine radar systems, chartplotters, ECDIS, AIS, VDR, VHF radios, MF/HF SSB, autopilots, maritime IT equipment, and VSAT systems are just a few of the marine navigation and communication systems that need to be installed, troubleshooted, and maintained.
- To guarantee optimum performance and adherence to safety rules, perform routine maintenance checks and inspections on installed systems.
- Effectively identify and fix technical problems to reduce downtime and guarantee that onboard systems continue to function.
- Assist crew members on board with technical support and direction for the upkeep and operation of navigation and communication systems.
- When necessary, organise installations, upgrades, and repairs with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Stay up to date on changes in the maritime navigation and communication systems sector, laws, and technology.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in telecommunications, electrical/electronics engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Four years or more of practical expertise installing, debugging, and maintaining marine communication and navigation systems.
- Solid understanding of networking and IT concepts and procedures.
- It is advised to have a General Operator's Certificate (GOC).
- It is preferable to have knowledge of marine electrical and electronic systems.
