About the job Senior Assurance Associate

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Plan, lead and execute assurance engagements (compilations, reviews and audits)
  • Analyze and assess financial statements and internal controls
  • Identify areas of risk and recommend improvements
  • Supervise, train and mentor junior team members providing them with constructive feedback
  • Handle and prepare complex transactions and work with clients on technical matters
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, standards and practices (technical knowledge of GAAP and GAAS)
  • Foster client relationships to ensure information is gathered, and matters are resolved within a timely and effective manner
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary

  • Strong candidates for this position should be motivated, reliable and possess:
  • At least three years prior experience in public accounting, CPA a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex information
  • Knowledge of the following software programs is preferred
    • QuickBooks Desktop and Online
    • Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word
    • Caseware
    • Datasnipper
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and to analyze problems logically and comprehensively, distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant information.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters in a tactful and discreet manner
  • Strong inter-personal skills, including the capability to effectively present information and respond to clients needs
