The Radiation Therapy Technologist safely and correctly operates equipment delivering ionizing radiation for the purpose of treating neoplastic diseases or for other therapeutic purposes. To apply ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the Radiation Oncologist. To carry out pretreatment preparations including simulations and fabrication of treatment devices. Provides service to patients throughout the life span including newborns, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric age groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Four-year degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Must be knowledgeable of the operation methods and safety standards of all equipment producing ionizing radiation within the department. Must be able to handle radiation sources. Possesses experience and capabilities as deemed sufficient by the Chief Therapist and Radiation Oncologist. 3 to 5 years experience prefered
Certification/Licensure: Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Must be licensed by the state or eligible for licensure. CPR certification required.
