About the Opportunity
Our recruiting firm is conducting a confidential search for a Corporate Controller with an established company in the aggregate construction, logistics, transportation, and heavy materials industry.
This is a high-visibility, hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the President. The Controller will oversee financial reporting, cost accounting, job profitability, cash management, internal controls, and the accounting team while partnering closely with operations and executive leadership.
Must-Haves
- CPA or CA — required
- Public accounting experience — required
- Industry experience in aggregate construction, logistics, transportation, fleet, heavy materials, or a closely related environment — required
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Proven Controller or Assistant Controller-level leadership
- Strong cost accounting/job costing and P&L management experience
- Experience with ERP implementation, optimization, or major accounting-system improvements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and consolidated reporting.
- Oversee cost accounting, job costing, inventory, budgets, and profitability analysis.
- Develop P&Ls and financial reporting across business units, locations, and jobs.
- Lead and develop the accounting team across A/P, A/R, billing, collections, and related functions.
- Manage cash flow, banking, debt, intercompany activity, and financial controls.
- Lead ERP optimization and accounting-process improvements.
- Oversee insurance, tax, IFTA, licensing, lien waivers, and other operational compliance.
- Partner with the President on capital planning, equipment investments, acquisitions, growth initiatives, and long-term strategy.
- Serve as a financial advisor to executive and operational leadership.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on financial leader who understands both the numbers and the operation. You should be comfortable digging into cost and profitability data, leading an accounting team, improving systems and controls, and communicating financial insights directly to senior leadership.
Experience in an asset-intensive, multi-location operating environment is highly valued.
