About the Role
We are looking for a results-oriented Senior Sales Manager – Staffing Sector (Oil & Gas Division) to drive new business development and manage key client relationships within the oil & gas staffing sector. This role requires deep familiarity with upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, along with the specialized workforce needs of E&P companies, EPC contractors, refineries, and oilfield service providers. The successful candidate will be a strategic relationship-builder capable of navigating long sales cycles, complex procurement processes, and safety-sensitive hiring environments typical of the energy industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and win new client accounts within the oil & gas industry — including E&P operators, EPC firms, refineries, midstream/pipeline companies, and oilfield service providers — for contract, contract-to-hire, and permanent staffing solutions
- Develop and execute a sector-specific sales strategy to achieve revenue and margin targets for the O&G division
- Build a strong sales pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals, RFP responses, and industry networking
- Understand and navigate client procurement processes, including MSA/vendor agreement negotiations and preferred supplier list (PSL) applications common in the energy sector
- Negotiate bill rates, markups, and contract terms in line with market conditions and company margin targets
- Collaborate with recruiting/delivery teams to ensure roles (e.g., engineers, technicians, project managers, HSE specialists, skilled trades) are filled with qualified, compliant candidates
- Stay current on oil & gas market cycles, commodity price impacts on hiring demand, and regional project activity (onshore/offshore, greenfield/brownfield)
- Ensure client and candidate compliance with industry-specific requirements (safety certifications, drug/alcohol testing policies, TWIC cards, offshore survival training, etc., where applicable)
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade associations, and networking events (e.g., OTC, SPE events, regional energy chambers)
- Track and report on pipeline activity, win/loss analysis, and account performance using CRM tools
- Build long-term strategic partnerships with key accounts to drive repeat and expanded business
- Mentor junior sales/BD staff supporting the division as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- 5+ years of B2B sales experience, with meaningful experience in staffing/recruitment sales within the oil & gas or broader energy sector
- Solid understanding of oil & gas industry structure (upstream/midstream/downstream) and typical workforce needs
- Proven ability to manage long, complex sales cycles and navigate corporate procurement/vendor management processes
- Strong negotiation and consultative selling skills
- Experience with CRM/ATS systems (Bullhorn, Salesforce, JobDiva, or similar)
- Willingness to travel to client sites, including field locations, as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships/network within oil & gas operators, EPCs, or oilfield service companies
- Familiarity with safety compliance standards relevant to O&G hiring (ISNetworld, Veriforce, TWIC, etc.)
- Experience staffing technical/engineering, HSE, project controls, or skilled trades roles within energy projects
- Understanding of regional O&G market dynamics (e.g., Permian Basin, Gulf Coast, international markets, as relevant to the business)
