Job Title: Assistant Manager – Instrumentation Execution

Profile Summary
The AM/DY Manager – Instrumentation Execution will be responsible for overseeing the estimation, planning, execution, and successful delivery of gas power plant in Africa. This role requires leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safety and compliance, optimizing project execution processes, and meeting timelines and budget requirements. Strong experience in working and managing cross-functional teams and consultants is mandatory. The position will be based in Africa and will require close working with local teams as well as international teams of qualified professionals
Key Responsibilities:
International Project Execution & Coordination
o Review, discuss, optimize and implement project execution plan
o Monitor project progress by supervising sub-contractors, main contractor and project management consultant. Identify and mitigate execution risks to avoid delays or cost overrun.
o Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, and budgets; ensure alignment with approved project schedule
o Liaise effectively between EPC contractors, PMC consultants, and the Owner's team to ensure smooth instrument project execution.
o Coordinate and monitor instrument works progress, quality, and compliance as per contract and project standards.
o Review of quality of construction, construction schedule, HSE Compliance of contractors.
Instrument Execution Monitoring & Control
o Review and approve instrumentation/DCS/SCADA execution plans, method statements, risk assessments, and work permits submitted by EPC.o Supervise installation of instrumentation devices, field instruments, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and related equipment
o Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, civil, and control system teams for integrated project execution
o Ensure adherence to international Instrument/SCADA standards (IEC, IEEE) and project technical specifications.
o Monitor procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning activities of instrument equipment (DCS, SCADA, Process equipment, pressure gauge etc).
Quality Assurance & Compliance
o Ensure all instrumentation activities comply with project specifications, standards (ISA, IEC), and safety regulations.
o Implement and enforce quality control procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs) as per project requirements.
o Participate in inspections, FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities to verify compliance.
o Report and manage non-conformances and corrective actions in coordination with EPC and PMC.
o Maintain documentation including test reports, calibration certificates, and commissioning records
Project Reporting & Documentation
o Provide timely and accurate progress reports, technical updates, and risk assessments to stakeholders.
o Ensure all Control and instrumentation documentation, drawings, certificates, and manuals are submitted and approved as per contract.
o Maintain detailed records of site activities, inspections, and meetings.
Stakeholder & Team Management
o Facilitate regular coordination meetings between EPC, PMC, and Owner teams.
o Manage interface issues and resolve conflicts related to Instrument scope.
o Mentor and guide Instrument engineers and inspectors as part of the Owner's team on-site.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
o Enforce strict compliance with HSE standards and site safety regulations.
o Conduct regular safety audits and promote a culture of safety within all teams.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's or master's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering.
o 08-10 years of experience in Instrument execution in power plant projects, preferably gas-fired power plants of 200 MW+.
o Proven track record of managing large-scale power plant projects.
o In-depth knowledge of instrumentation systems including DCS, PLC, field instruments, analyzers, control valves, and calibration tools
o Experience with instrumentation installation, loop checking, calibration, and commissioning.
o Strong knowledge of gas turbine technology, power plant operations, and related safety standards.
o Proven experience in international project execution, EPC monitoring, and working with PMC teams.
o Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
o Deep knowledge of monitoring systems: switchgear, transformers, protection relays, control systems, and power distribution.
o Experience with international standards IEC, IEEE, NEC, ISA and quality management systems.

o Ability to adapt to different countries' working cultures and environments.
o Proficient in MS Office, project management tools, and DCS/SCADA design software.
