Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety protocols and procedures on construction sites.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with UAE safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct safety training sessions and toolbox talks for site staff and workers.
- Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and training programs.
- Collaborate with site managers, engineers, and contractors to promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Monitor and enforce safety measures during site activities, including lifting operations, scaffolding, and equipment use.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience as a Safety Officer, with at least 6 years in the UAE construction industry.
- Proven track record in ensuring compliance with safety standards in site projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of UAE safety regulations and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective safety measures.
- Proficiency in preparing safety reports and documentation.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with workers, contractors, and management.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Educational Background:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- NEBOSH/IOSH certification is mandatory.
- First aid certification is an advantage.
