Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety protocols and procedures on construction sites.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct safety training sessions and toolbox talks for site staff and workers.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and training programs.
  • Collaborate with site managers, engineers, and contractors to promote a culture of safety.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor and enforce safety measures during site activities, including lifting operations, scaffolding, and equipment use.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience:
    • 5-10 years of experience as a Safety Officer, with at least 6 years in the UAE construction industry.
    • Proven track record in ensuring compliance with safety standards in site projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of UAE safety regulations and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
    • Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective safety measures.
    • Proficiency in preparing safety reports and documentation.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with workers, contractors, and management.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Educational Background:
    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
    • NEBOSH/IOSH certification is mandatory.
    • First aid certification is an advantage.
