Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather accurate cost data.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
  • Develop cost breakdowns and bills of quantities (BOQ) in accordance with project standards.
  • Analyze and evaluate project budgets to ensure alignment with client expectations and company goals.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and provide technical and cost-related inputs.
  • Monitor ongoing projects to compare actual costs with estimated budgets and recommend adjustments if necessary.
  • Maintain an updated database of pricing for materials, labor, and equipment in the UAE market.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market rates, and best practices for estimation in the construction sector.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience:
    • 5-10 years of experience in construction estimation, with at least 6 years in the UAE market.
    • Proven track record in estimating costs for large-scale projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Excel, Primavera).
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market rates in the UAE.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, BOQs, and project specifications.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers, contractors, and clients.
    • Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • Certification in cost estimation or related disciplines is a plus.
