About the job Estimation Engineer
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather accurate cost data.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
- Develop cost breakdowns and bills of quantities (BOQ) in accordance with project standards.
- Analyze and evaluate project budgets to ensure alignment with client expectations and company goals.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and provide technical and cost-related inputs.
- Monitor ongoing projects to compare actual costs with estimated budgets and recommend adjustments if necessary.
- Maintain an updated database of pricing for materials, labor, and equipment in the UAE market.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market rates, and best practices for estimation in the construction sector.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in construction estimation, with at least 6 years in the UAE market.
- Proven track record in estimating costs for large-scale projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Excel, Primavera).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market rates in the UAE.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, BOQs, and project specifications.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers, contractors, and clients.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Educational Background:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certification in cost estimation or related disciplines is a plus.
