Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the transhipment operations for shipments between different regions, with a primary focus on Europe.
- Ensure the smooth and efficient flow of goods through transhipment hubs, managing both inbound and outbound logistics.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the transhipment process, reducing delays and improving cost-efficiency.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and port authorities to ensure timely delivery and compliance with regulations.
- Supervise and manage a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance and training to ensure high levels of performance.
- Negotiate contracts with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and other service providers to secure competitive pricing and quality services.
- Track and monitor shipments, resolving any delays, issues, or discrepancies in the transhipment process.
- Analyze and report on logistics performance, recommending improvements in processes, systems, and technology.
- Ensure compliance with local and international customs regulations, import/export laws, and any other relevant trade regulations.
- Develop contingency plans for potential delays or disruptions in the transhipment chain.
- Ensure that the warehouse management, transportation, and distribution functions align with transhipment schedules and operational goals.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in transhipment logistics with a strong focus on the European region.
- In-depth knowledge of European shipping routes, customs regulations, and supply chain practices.
- Experience with freight forwarding, shipping line operations, and managing logistics teams.
- Proven ability to develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize cost, time, and efficiency.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work with international partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage a team, foster collaboration, and lead with a solution-oriented approach.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in logistics management software, Microsoft Office, and other related tools.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
