About the job Principal Data Architect
We are seeking an experienced Principal Data Architect with a strong background in data security, particularly in zero-trust environments. As a critical leader within the Group, this role offers the unique opportunity to build and lead a cutting-edge data team from the ground up. Your team will focus on the architecture and analysis of data for our innovative, security-focused VPN and chat applications. As the first member of the data team, you will shape the data strategy and have the immediate ability to hire and expand the team, starting with a Data Analyst, driving innovation in one of the most secure and advanced application environments available today. You will work closely with engineering, product, and security teams to ensure that data intelligence aligns with the strategic direction set by the Product Strategy Group Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Build the Data Team: As the first data team member, you will have the autonomy to immediately hire and build a team that aligns with our strategic goals and vision, starting with a Data Analyst. Ensure alignment with company's strategic goals and vision while contributing to shape the team culture and foster innovation from day one.
- Innovate and Integrate Emerging Technologies: Drive innovation by architecting and integrating cutting-edge encryption technologies, including zero-trust, zero-knowledge, and emerging standards such as MLS. Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance data security and performance, ensuring that company's products remain at the forefront of the industry.
- Data Security and Architecture: Design and maintain a secure, scalable, end-to-end data architecture for our VPN and chat applications, with a focus on performance, resiliency, and cutting-edge security protocols.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with leadership, product, and engineering teams to ensure data solutions support broader business goals and adhere to the highest security standards.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Lead the initial planning and execution of data analysis and reporting strategies, leveraging your past hands-on experience, with the intent to delegate these tasks to newly hired team members.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, a related field, or equivalent experience. Advanced certifications in encryption technologies, data security or cloud computing are highly desirable.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with a strong emphasis on secure data practices and performance optimization. Past experience in data analysis and reporting is essential.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in architecting secure data environments, with hands-on experience in zero-trust security models and advanced encryption standards like MLS.
- Regulations Experience: Good understanding of one or more data privacy regulations relevant to Vietnam (Decree No. 13/2023/ND-CP), Thailand (PDPA), and Singapore (PDPA).
- Leadership: Proven leadership in building and managing high-performing data teams, with strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Analytical Skills: Proven hands-on experience in implementing data analysis and reporting strategies earlier in your career. A track record in mentoring and leading teams to deliver actionable data-driven insights is essential.
