The Medical Coding Professional will be responsible for accurately translating patient information into standardized codes used for billing and insurance purposes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and the ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review clinical statements and assign standard codes using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of coding for medical billing.
  • Verify and resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Maintain compliance with federal regulations, payer policies, and company guidelines.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and analysis for internal audits and quality improvement.
  • Stay updated with the latest coding guidelines and healthcare regulations.
  • Provide training and support to healthcare staff on coding procedures and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding.
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in using medical coding software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a specific medical specialty (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, etc.)
  • Experience with coding audits and quality improvement initiatives.
