Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Supervisor specializing in estimation and procurement for both pre- and post-contract phases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with cost estimation, preparing tender documents, managing procurement processes, and ensuring that all contractual obligations are met. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation:
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for projects in the pre-contract phase.
- Work with the project team to ensure accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to provide accurate estimates.
- Tendering and Contracts:
- Assist in preparing tender documentation and contract agreements.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids and negotiate contracts.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Procurement:
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes.
- Manage procurement schedules and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Work closely with the procurement team to optimize costs while maintaining quality.
- Post-Contract Duties:
- Monitor and control project costs, including variations and change orders.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, including final accounts.
- Support the project team with the valuation of completed works and progress payments.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of project costs, contracts, and procurement activities.
- Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting cost performance and procurement efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction or contracting industry.
- Knowledge of cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and vendor management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
