About the Role
We are looking for an analytical and commercially driven Trader to manage the sourcing, buying and selling of products (physical goods or commodities) across markets, ensuring profitable deals while mitigating risk. The successful candidate will monitor market trends, negotiate contracts, manage logistics coordination and work closely with commercial, operations and finance teams to execute trading activity.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor markets (local, regional & international) to identify sourcing/trading opportunities, pricing trends, supply/demand dynamics and risk factors.
Negotiate purchase and sale contracts with suppliers, vendors, buyers and distributors; secure favourable terms (price, delivery, payment).
Place and execute trades or shipments: arrange sourcing, logistics, documentation, shipping, customs and delivery coordination.
Manage inventory exposure, product flow, shipments in transit and stock allocations to ensure timely fulfilment.
Work closely with operations, logistics and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of trades: tracking shipments, managing freight/costs, documentation and credit/payment terms.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, brokers, freight forwarders and other external stakeholders.
Analyze profitability, margins, cost structures and market impact of each trade; prepare reports and business proposals.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, customs, import/export and corporate governance policies relevant to trading.
Monitor and manage risk exposures: currency, credit, logistics, inventory, market changes and counter-party risk.
Develop and implement strategies to grow volumes, expand product portfolios, enter new markets or improve cost-effectiveness.
Provide regular updates to senior management on trading performance, market insights and business opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Commerce or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years experience in trading, sourcing or commercial roles in the UAE or GCC region (or international exposure) more for senior roles.
Strong negotiation, commercial acumen and ability to analyse financial and market data.
Excellent communication, stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills.
Good understanding of supply chain/logistics, import/export operations and documentations.
Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions and act in a dynamic trading environment.
Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and comfortable working with trading, sales or ERP systems.
Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
