Job Title - IT/AV Technician

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and technically skilled IT / AV Technician to support both the schools day-to-day IT operations and its audio-visual (AV) needs. This person will help maintain classroom technology, AV systems for assemblies or events, and provide technical support to staff and students.

Key Responsibilities

IT Support

Provide first-line support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other classroom IT equipment.

Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; escalate where needed.

Assist in deploying and maintaining operating systems and standard software on school devices.

Maintain an inventory of IT equipment, including licensing, hardware, and peripherals.

Ensure regular backups and basic IT maintenance tasks are completed.

AV (Audio-Visual) Support

Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment for classrooms, auditoriums, meetings, and events.

Support live events: assemblies, presentations, hybrid/virtual sessions (e.g., Teams, Zoom)

Troubleshoot AV systems (microphones, projectors, speakers, lighting) and ensure they operate smoothly.

Conduct regular maintenance checks on AV equipment and perform preventive maintenance.

Collaborate with vendors to repair, upgrade, or replace AV hardware when necessary.

Documentation & Training

Maintain documentation of AV and IT systems, including SOPs, user guides, and inventories.

Train staff and students on how to use classroom IT tools, projectors, interactive displays, or AV equipment.

Provide technical support and advice during school events, presentations, or digital learning sessions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with academic, operations, and events teams to ensure IT and AV readiness for lessons and functions.

Liaise with external vendors or service providers for major equipment installations or repairs.

Help plan and coordinate AV setups for hybrid learning, video conferencing or live-streamed school events.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Audio-Visual Technology, Electronics, or a related field.

24 years experience in AV support, IT support, or a similar technical role preferably in a school, educational institution or corporate environment.

Strong knowledge of AV equipment (projectors, speakers, microphones, lighting) and control systems.

Competence in supporting classroom IT environments, including basic networking, OS, and peripherals.

Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure, especially during live events.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

Flexibility in working hours: events or school functions may require support outside standard hours.
