Our client, a respected accounting firm in Mount Lawley, Perth, is seeking a dedicated Intermediate Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for a motivated accountant with at least 2 years of experience who enjoys a blend of technical accounting and client interaction. This position offers the chance to develop expertise in tax compliance and financial reporting within a supportive, professional environment.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Managers and Reviewers, the Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for preparing client financials, tax returns, management reports, and BAS statements. Additionally, the role involves fostering client relationships through timely communication and high-quality service delivery, aligning with the firm's commitment to exceptional client support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting and Compliance (95%):

    • Prepare accurate financial statements, tax returns, BAS statements, and management reports in compliance with statutory standards.
    • Conduct financial and tax analyses for review by senior team members.
    • Manage time effectively, ensuring that 90% of daily work is client-billable and meets a recovery rate of at least 80%.
    • Participate in weekly progress meetings, updating management on job status and milestones.
    • Ensure client queries and emails are responded to within one business day.
  • Client Relationship Management (5%):

    • Respond promptly to client inquiries, providing timelines for deliverables.
    • Offer ad hoc client support to resolve queries and facilitate ongoing client satisfaction.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in accounting software, such as Xero and MYOB, with intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A solid understanding of tax law, financial reporting standards, and compliance management.
