Cakum Global is recruiting a General Manager - CAMG for our aviation client PNG Air, based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager CAMG leads the Continuing Airworthiness Management organisation for the PNG Air fleet of ATR 72-600 and ATR 42-600 aircraft. The role recognises safety as a core value in all decision making involving continuing airworthiness, and puts the safety management plan into effect as it applies to continuing airworthiness activities.

Maintenance Control

  • Ensure aircraft and installed equipment are maintained in accordance with a PNG CASA approved customised maintenance programme, per the Continuing Airworthiness Management Manual
  • Ensure aircraft availability for required maintenance through liaison with Airline Operations and the CEO
  • Create and maintain MELs for aircraft types and monitor adherence to MEL conditions and limitations
  • Ensure discrepancies are assessed for airworthiness impact, deferrals correctly recorded, and defects rectified
  • Ensure maintenance is correctly certified and aircraft released to service after maintenance
  • Ensure modifications and repairs are embodied per approved data, with accurate aircraft logbook records
  • Ensure applicable Airworthiness Directives are accomplished
  • Act on continuing airworthiness data assessed by Technical Services, including Service Bulletins and consequential changes to maintenance programmes
  • Authorise extensions to B and C category MEL items
  • Provide airworthiness advice to the Chief Executive Officer

Forecasting and Planning

  • Manage systems to plan and ensure accomplishment of required maintenance so airworthiness limitations are not exceeded
  • Provide projected maintenance reporting for management
  • Ensure required maintenance is notified to providers via Work Packs with optimum prior notification
  • Account for peak operational demands in long range maintenance forecasting
  • Ensure close liaison between Continuing Airworthiness planning and Part 145 production planning

Regulatory Compliance and Approvals

  • Issue Special Flight Permits in accordance with the CASA approved continuing authorisation
  • Withdraw aircraft from service where required maintenance cannot be accomplished or deferred
  • Liaise directly with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority on fleet airworthiness matters
  • Prepare amendments to the Continuing Airworthiness Manual and control distribution of the manual and aircraft MELs
  • Implement corrective and preventative actions from audits of the continuing airworthiness management function

Aircraft Records

  • Manage the airworthiness control elements of the maintenance tracking software, covering aircraft, engine and component status, inspections, component finite and overhaul lives
  • Ensure aircraft logbooks are maintained accurately in the prescribed manner

Ideal Candidate

  • 5 years' technical experience
  • 3 years' experience in a supervisory position
  • Clear knowledge of the maintenance parts of the company exposition and the applicable maintenance provisions of CA Rule Part 121
  • Hold or have held a LAME licence
  • General airline experience with thorough knowledge of airline commercial and private operations
  • Demonstrated leadership quality
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of planning and cost controls
