About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Charter Manager to lead the growth and management of a well-established aviation charter business operating across Papua New Guinea.

This role combines commercial leadership, contract management, business development, and operational coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining existing charter contracts, securing new business opportunities, and ensuring the successful delivery of aviation charter services to corporate, government, mining, energy, and resource sector clients.

This position is ideally suited to a commercially focused aviation professional who understands both the operational and commercial aspects of charter aviation.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

• Identify and secure new charter opportunities across mining, oil & gas, government, and corporate sectors.
• Develop and execute strategies to grow charter revenue and market share.
• Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and long-term charter contracts.
• Develop tailored charter solutions to meet client requirements.

Contract Management

• Manage existing charter contracts and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Monitor contract performance, profitability, and service delivery standards.
• Lead contract renewals, amendments, and commercial negotiations.
• Conduct contract reviews and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate contract documentation and reporting.

Charter Operations & Service Delivery

• Coordinate with flight operations, maintenance, ground handling, and commercial teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Monitor aircraft availability and charter scheduling requirements.
• Ensure charter services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual commitments.
• Manage client expectations and resolve operational issues promptly.

Market Development

• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
• Identify new service offerings and growth opportunities.
• Provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding pricing, market positioning, and business expansion initiatives.

Skills & Experience

We are seeking candidates who possess:

• Minimum 5–10 years' experience in aviation, charter operations, contract management, or commercial business development.
• Strong experience developing and managing commercial contracts.
• Demonstrated success in business development and revenue growth.
• Experience working with mining, oil & gas, government, defence, or resource sector clients will be highly regarded.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess profitability, risk, and operational performance.
• Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with both operational and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Aviation Management, Marketing, or a related discipline.
• Aviation industry experience is highly desirable.
• Experience working in Papua New Guinea or other emerging markets will be viewed favourably.
