Competency Quality Inspector

Job Overview

PNG Air is seeking a Competency Quality Inspector to support the effective operation of its MRO quality, safety and compliance functions in Port Moresby.

The position plays an important role in maintaining a strong safety and quality culture across the Part 145 organisation. The successful candidate will conduct quality inspections and surveillance activities, support audits, monitor corrective actions and assist with the administration of engineer competency, training, licensing and technical compliance requirements.

The role requires a strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement, together with the ability to work effectively with engineering personnel, management and CASA PNG.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct quality reviews and checklist-based inspections of Part 145 maintenance activities and facilities.
• Maintain records and databases of identified deficiencies.
• Communicate lapses in quality standards to the Quality Manager.
• Follow up corrective and preventative actions assigned by the Safety & Quality Management Group.
• Participate in process audits of the Part 145 organisation.
• Conduct regular HSE surveys throughout the Part 145 organisation.
• Conduct induction training for engineers prior to the issue of Part 145 authorisations.
• Support and escort external auditors conducting audits of the Part 145 organisation.
• Coordinate approved amendments to the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), including:
  • canvassing managers for proposed changes;
  • collating approved amendments; and
  • processing revisions in accordance with the published amendment cycle.
• Record completed maintenance training and maintain personnel training files.
• Monitor the initial issue, renewal and addition of ratings for engineer maintenance licences and maintenance specialist certificates issued by CASA PNG.
• Arrange CASA PNG examinations for LAMEs, AMEs and trainees.
• Maintain and monitor the Technical Materials Approved Vendors Register.
• Ensure approved vendor approvals remain valid and current.
• Undertake surveillance of company facilities in accordance with the requirements of the MOE.
• Perform inspection and related administrative duties as required.

• Must be a qualified Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME).
  
• Must have Auditors Certificate
• Must have ATR Type qualification.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Significant qualifications and/or demonstrated competency in aviation Quality and Safety.
• Relevant experience or exposure in a similar quality, safety, compliance or aviation maintenance environment.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Sound computer skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical, operational and management personnel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically capable of undertaking the duties associated with the position.

Preferred

• Previous experience working within a large airline or aviation organisation.
• Experience within a Part 145 maintenance organisation.
• Familiarity with CASA PNG regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting aviation quality audits, surveillance, corrective actions and engineering competency administration.
