A key aspects of the role is to support the design of ruggedised & hardened communication and IT hardware to meet the needs of military operating environments.  Understanding and applying solutions to maintain communications and data security in a military environment is also a critical element of the role.

Key responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure IT and network infrastructure for Defense systems. This role involves integrating hardware and software solutions, ensuring cybersecurity compliance, and supporting mission-critical operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in network architecture, system administration, and defence-related technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, deploy, and maintain secure IT and network architectures for defense systems.
    • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and security appliances in compliance with defense standards.
    • Ensure cybersecurity best practices, including risk assessments, vulnerability management, and compliance with defense regulations (e.g., NIST, DISA STIGs).
    • Support system integration, testing, and troubleshooting across IT and network environments.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and system configurations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, security analysts, and defense contractors.
    • Provide technical support and incident response for network and system-related issues.
    • Ensure compliance with classified and unclassified information handling standards.

Your Qualifications & Experience

    The successful applicant will be a qualified Systems Engineer who has:

    • Technical qualifications in Communications, IT and Network design and security.
    • Defense communications experience, particularly secure networks.
    • Experience working with highly secure, preferably Defense networks.
    • Up to date and a genuine interest in leading edge and best practices in IT management.
    • Project experience, preferably Defense acquisition environments.
    • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts to other stakeholders, team members as well as management and vendors.  Can produce clear descriptions, documentation and diagrams when required.

An initial 6 or 12 month contract, that has the possibility of extension either on this program or other innovative projects for our client, who is on a solid growth trajectory.
