Role Overview:

The House Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of a private household, delivering the highest standards of service, managing household staff, and ensuring all aspects of the residence function seamlessly. The ideal candidate is polished, discreet, highly organized, and service-oriented with a strong background in hospitality or private household management.

Household Operations & Management

  • Oversee daily household activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Manage schedules, routines, and standard procedures for household staff and tasks.
  • Supervise chefs, cleaners, drivers, gardeners, and part-time contractors.
  • Handle budgeting, expense tracking, bill payments, and household purchases.
  • Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and service providers
  • Ensure privacy, discretion, and household confidentiality at all times.

Property Maintenance

  • Maintain the homes cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation.
  • Manage inventory, repairs, maintenance schedules, and service contracts.
  • Coordinate emergency maintenance and oversee all household systems upkeep.

Staff Supervision

  • Recruit, train, and oversee domestic staff performance and scheduling.
  • Monitor attendance, manage rosters, and ensure compliance with employment policies.
  • Guide service standards and foster a high-performance team culture.

Event & Guest Management

  • Plan and manage family events, private functions, and guest visits.
  • Coordinate logistics, staffing, menu planning, and décor.
  • Ensure guests receive warm, attentive, and professional service.

Butler & Lifestyle Support

  • Provide formal table service, manage the wine cellar, and organize the wardrobe
  • Oversee packing/unpacking for travel and special requests.
  • Ensure timely responses to communications and maintain service excellence.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience as a House Manager or similar role in private high-net-worth residences.
  • Background in luxury hospitality, cabin crew (with supervisory duties), or hotel butler service preferred.
  • Familiarity with VIP household protocols, etiquette, and high-touch service standards.
  • Discreet, professional, trustworthy, and capable of handling confidential matters.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and able to work independently with strong initiative.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and service-minded with excellent leadership and time management skills.
  • Calm under pressure with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Flexible with working hours, including weekends.
