About the opportunity:

We are seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from experienced Defence Network Engineering professionals for permanent opportunities in Canberra. You will provide a Network Engineering activities supporting classified Defence and Government systems. Your duties and experience may include but not be limited to;
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable network architectures (LAN, WAN, WLAN).
- Deploy and configure network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
- Support network upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh activities.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure agreed service levels are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and outages in a timely manner.
- Perform routine maintenance, patching, and configuration changes.
- Implement network security controls including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.
- Ensure networks comply with organisational security policies, standards, and frameworks.
- Support cyber security initiatives including vulnerability remediation and incident response.
- Maintain awareness of emerging threats and apply mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with system administrators, cyber security teams, and application owners.
- Provide technical advice to project teams and business stakeholders.
- Support vendors and third-party providers during installations and fault resolution.
About you:
- Network Engineering experience in classified Defence or Government environments.
- Australian citizen with a current or inactive AGSVA clearance (Min NV1 preferred).
- Relevant qualifications and industry certifications such as CISCO, Fortigate.
- Strong understanding of the integration and security challenges of OT and ICT networks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure in diverse environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with both military and civilian stakeholders.
- An ability to work either individually or as part of a broader team.
