About the job Character Artist
Key Responsibilities:
- Create visually compelling character designs based on concept art, briefs, and storytelling requirements.
- Sculpt, model, and texture high-quality 3D characters for games, animation, or other media.
- Ensure character models meet technical and artistic requirements, including topology, rigging, and animation constraints.
- Develop detailed character assets, including clothing, accessories, and props.
- Work closely with concept artists, animators, and game designers to maintain a consistent art style.
- Optimize character assets for real-time performance while maintaining visual quality.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in character modeling and texturing techniques.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Animation, Game Design, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a Character Artist in the gaming, animation, or film industry.
- Strong portfolio showcasing character modeling, texturing, and sculpting skills.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Blender, Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine/Unity.
- Understanding of human and creature anatomy, proportions, and animation principles.
- Experience in creating both stylized and realistic characters.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in rigging and skinning characters.
- Knowledge of procedural workflows and tools like Houdini.
- Familiarity with PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows.
- Passion for storytelling and character development.
