Job Overview
We are looking for a Legal Associate (Litigation) to manage and support legal disputes, investigations, and contentious matters across the business. This role will be responsible for handling a wide range of cases, including fraud, employment disputes, regulatory issues, and other operational legal matters, while ensuring proper coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
The role requires a hands-on legal professional who can analyze risks, manage cases end-to-end, and provide practical legal solutions in a fast-paced environment. You will also support legal documentation, regulatory engagement, and day-to-day legal matters to ensure the company remains compliant and well-protected from legal exposure.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support litigation, dispute, and investigation matters across the business, including civil, criminal, regulatory, and administrative cases.
Handle dispute-related matters involving merchant fraud, employee fraud, payment-related issues, lending-related issues, and other business operational disputes.
Assist in managing employment and industrial relations disputes, including internal investigations, disciplinary matters, employee misconduct cases, settlement discussions, and proceedings before relevant authorities or courts.
Respond to and coordinate on police summons, witness interviews, investigations, and other law enforcement-related matters, including preparing supporting documents and liaising with relevant internal teams.
Draft, review, and manage legal correspondence relating to disputes and investigations, including warning letters, demand letters, responses to claims, settlement communications, and official submissions to regulators or authorities.
Support the legal risk management process by identifying, assessing, and advising on contentious legal issues arising from payment and lending activities, and provide practical recommendations to mitigate potential exposure.
Assist in handling incidental legal cases, including competition law matters such as KPPU proceedings, as well as incidental civil, criminal, or regulatory matters that may arise from time to time.
Coordinate with and manage external counsel, including monitoring case strategy, timelines, deliverables, and legal spend.
Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including compliance, risk, fraud, HR, operations, and business teams, to gather facts, develop legal positions, and ensure consistent case handling.
Prepare case summaries, legal analyses, evidence, and internal updates for management and key stakeholders.
Monitor developments in litigation, dispute resolution, employment, fraud, competition, and financial services laws and regulations relevant to the company’s business.
Maintain proper documentation and case records, and ensure timely reporting and escalation of material legal disputes and risks.
Provide legal support across the organization based on company-wide priorities, particularly in high-urgency or high-impact situations.
Handle day-to-day legal matters including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing various commercial and employment-related agreements such as NDAs, vendor and procurement contracts, consultancy agreements, and other basic non-strategic third-party agreements, as well as employment and industrial relations contracts, including overseeing and supporting the implementation of such agreements.
