About the job Accounting AP Staff

ROLE OVERVIEW
BukuWarung is looking for an Accounting Staff — Accounts Payable to support day-to-day AP operations within the Finance team. This is a contract (PKWT) position suited for a fresh graduate or early-career professional with a strong academic background in accounting and a genuine interest in building a career in finance within a fast-growing fintech environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, well-organised, and comfortable working in a structured yet dynamic setting. Experience from external audit or a public accounting firm — even if brief — is highly valued.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable Processing

  • Process vendor invoices end-to-end: receive, verify, code, and post invoices into the accounting system accurately and on time.

  • Match invoices against purchase orders and goods receipt documents (3-way matching) and escalate discrepancies for resolution.

  • Prepare payment runs (bank transfer, virtual account) and ensure all supporting documents and approvals are complete prior to payment.

  • Maintain an up-to-date AP aging report and monitor outstanding payables to avoid late payments or penalties.

  • Handle vendor queries related to payment status and outstanding balances in a professional and timely manner.

Vendor & Document Management

  • Maintain accurate and complete vendor records, including tax identification numbers (NPWP), banking details, and supporting documentation.

  • Ensure all payment documents are filed systematically for audit readiness — both digital and physical where applicable.

  • Support vendor onboarding processes, including collecting required compliance documents.

Reconciliation & Month-End Close

  • Perform monthly AP sub-ledger reconciliation against the general ledger and flag any variances for review.

  • Prepare and post accrual journal entries for outstanding vendor obligations at month-end.

  • Support the closing checklist and ensure AP-related items are completed within the close timeline.

  • Assist in preparing balance sheet schedules and AP-related working papers.

Tax & Compliance Support

  • Ensure vendor invoices are correctly tagged with the applicable withholding tax (PPh 23, PPh 4(2), etc.) and VAT treatment in line with Indonesian tax regulations.

  • Support preparation of monthly withholding tax summaries and assist with e-Faktur or e-SPT filing as needed.

  • Maintain awareness of changes in Indonesian tax regulations relevant to AP transactions.

  • Filling in governments and or regulators reporting forms

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Prepare and compile AP-related audit schedules and supporting documents for external and internal audit purposes.

  • Respond to auditor requests in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Uphold internal controls around payment processing, including adherence to the approval matrix and segregation of duties.

General Finance Support

  • Assist with ad-hoc finance tasks, reporting, and cross-functional requests as directed by the Accounting Manager.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives within the AP function.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Hard Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (S1 Akuntansi) — required.

  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant working experience in accounting or finance. Fresh graduates or candidates with less than 1 year of experience will be considered if academic performance and aptitude are strong.

  • Experience in external audit (Big 4, mid-tier, or local audit firm) is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of Indonesian tax regulations applicable to AP — PPh 23, PPh 4(2), PPN (VAT).

  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Accurate, SAP, Xero, or similar ERP systems) is an advantage.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel — comfortable with vlookups, pivot tables, and basic reconciliation templates.

  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger concepts.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • High attention to detail and a strong sense of accuracy — AP errors have direct financial impact.

  • Organised and able to manage multiple invoices and deadlines simultaneously without losing track.

  • Proactive communicator — able to follow up with vendors and internal teams independently.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment where processes are still being built and improved.

  • Good written and spoken communication in Bahasa Indonesia; basic English proficiency is a plus.

  • Integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
