This role sits at the heart of our merchant lending transformation, shaping how we balance growth with smart, data-driven risk management. You will architect the credit risk frameworks and models that power automated underwriting, stronger profitability, and sustainable AUM expansion. By unlocking insights from traditional, behavioural, and alternative data, you will elevate our credit decisions, pricing, and portfolio performance. Working across data science, product, and technology, you will drive a unified, analytics-led culture and seamless execution. You will directly influence how we scale, innovate, and deliver a superior merchant experience—ultimately redefining the future of risk within the company.
Responsibilities:
Risk Framework Development
Working on designing, implementing and maintaining credit risk policy for merchant lending
Leading the development of risk models and scorecards for automating the underwriting process
Creating and optimising merchant lifecycle strategies to maximize profitability and AUM while managing risk
Presenting risk insights and recommendations to Head of Business for improving portfolio performance and increasing business
Working closely on development of Loss Estimation Policy
Analytics & Decision Science
Leverage advanced analytical capabilities on traditional (bureau), alternative and behavioural data to generate actionable insights
Optimize credit decisions including acceptance rate, pricing strategies and credit limit assignment
Owner of credit functions experimentation framework and result delivery
Monitor portfolio performance, vintage analysis and early warning indicators
Create dashboards and decision-boards for improving business performance and driving data driven risk culture across the organization
Stakeholder management & collaboration
Liaise with data science, product and technology teams to ensure seamless execution
Manage relationships with external stakeholders/vendors, data providers etc
Lead Cross-functional initiatives to enhance merchant experience while maintaining risk standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field
4-6 years of experience in risk management within fintech/NBFC industry
Expert level proficiency in SQL, Excel and statistical programming languages (R/Python)
Deep understanding of credit bureau data, risk scorecards, credit risk modelling and credit policy
Growth Mindset and strategic thinking with ability to translate data into business insights
Preferred Qualification
MBA or advanced degree in quantitative field
Experience in emerging markets with familiarity to fintech ecosystem and digital lending
Professional certification in risk management
