The Mission

We are looking for a Staff Engineer who cares deeply about:
Designing systems that scale 10x and 100x
Failure domains and blast radius reduction
High availability and reliability engineering
Clean abstractions and long-term maintainability
Architecture that enables speed, not blocks it
What You Will Do
Lead architecture, design for high-scale systems across payments, EDC, credit, and merchant platforms
Design for multi-region expansion and high transaction volumes
Establish and elevate system design review standards
Drive platform thinking across squads
Identify scaling bottlenecks before they hurt
Reduce operational burden through thoughtful abstractions
Mentor engineers and grow them
You will work directly with engineering leadership and influence product decisions where system design matters.
What We’re Looking For
8+ years building and scaling backend distributed systems
Deep understanding of system design fundamentals (consistency models, caching strategies, event-driven architecture, fault tolerance, data modeling at scale)
Experience with microservices and/or modular monolith architectures
Hands-on expertise with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
Strong intuition for performance tuning and observability
Comfort operating in ambiguity while raising engineering bar
Bonus Points
Experience in fintech or transaction-heavy platforms
Experience scaling systems across regions
Prior Staff/Principal-level impact in high-growth environments
