About the Role
The Head of Area – Sumatera is a senior sales leadership role responsible for driving regional revenue growth, leading a high-performing field sales team, and expanding merchant network across the Sumatera region. This role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader who can navigate mass-market dynamics and build sustainable business partnerships.
Job Description
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Lead the planning, execution, and performance tracking of regional sales initiatives to achieve targets
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies tailored to the Sumatera market landscape
- Drive mass acquisition and activation of merchants across multiple tiers and segments
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, coach, and develop a multi-layer sales team to consistently hit KPIs
- Build team capability through structured training, performance reviews, and succession planning
- Foster a high-accountability and growth-oriented team culture
Merchant Retention & Key Account Management
- Own and maintain strong relationships with top Pareto/high-value merchants to ensure retention and growth
- Proactively identify risks of churn and implement mitigation strategies
Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure all team activities are aligned with company SOPs, compliance standards, and ethical guidelines
- Monitor and enforce process adherence across the sales cycle
Market Intelligence
- Gather and synthesize competitor landscape data, merchant feedback, and regional market trends
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations for leadership
Requirements
- Experience: 6–7 years in sales, with at least 2–3 years in a regional or area leadership role
- Industry Background: Banking, FMCG, Fintech, Telco, or other high-volume consumer-facing industries
- Sales Expertise: Strong track record in mass market/mass target sales environments
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and scale field sales teams
- Regional Knowledge: Familiarity with Sumatera's business landscape, culture, and key market dynamics is a strong plus
- Skills: Strategic thinking, data-driven decision making, stakeholder management, and strong communication
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA is a plus)
