About the Role:

As a Senior Data Analyst – Retail at BukuWarung, you will play a critical role in shaping data-driven decisions across our retail and merchant ecosystem. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to define key business metrics, uncover growth opportunities, and optimize end-to-end retail performance—from merchant onboarding to transaction activity and retention.

This role requires a strong understanding of retail dynamics, merchant behavior, and operational processes, combined with the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies. You will work directly with senior stakeholders to influence strategic decisions and drive measurable business impact.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Analytics & Business Insights

  • Analyze and interpret key retail business drivers, including merchant acquisition, activation, transaction volume (TPV), retention, and revenue generation.
  • Identify growth levers across the merchant lifecycle—from onboarding and activation to engagement and long-term retention.

  • Evaluate unit economics and profitability across different merchant segments, devices, and regions.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Operations, Sales, and Engineering teams to define success metrics and ensure alignment on business goals.

  • Support experimentation and rollout strategies (e.g., device launches, pricing, routing optimization) through data-driven insights.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into structured analytical approaches.

  • Communicate insights clearly to leadership, enabling informed and timely decision-making.

Advanced Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Design and maintain scalable dashboards and reporting systems to monitor retail performance in real time (e.g., merchant funnel, transaction trends, device performance).

  • Ensure accessibility and usability of data for operational and leadership teams.

Process Optimization & Automation

  • Improve data workflows and automate recurring reporting processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual dependencies.

  • Identify bottlenecks in retail operations (e.g., onboarding delays, device activation gaps) and recommend improvements.

Data Governance & Metric Standardization

  • Define and standardize key retail metrics (e.g., active merchants, TPV, activation rate) across teams.

  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data across all reporting layers.


Geospatial Analytics & POI Intelligence

  • Leverage geospatial data to identify high-potential merchant clusters, underserved areas, and expansion opportunities.

  • Utilize external data sources (e.g., POI datasets, map-based platforms such as Google Maps) to enrich internal merchant data.

  • Develop pipelines or scripts to extract, process, and analyze location-based data (e.g., scraping or API-based retrieval of Points of Interest) for market sizing and distribution strategy.

  • Support location intelligence use cases such as sales targeting, route optimization, and competitor mapping.

Thought Leadership

  • Proactively identify opportunities to leverage advanced analytics, segmentation, and predictive modeling to improve merchant performance and retention.

  • Stay updated on industry trends in payments, retail ecosystems, and location intelligence.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics, strategy, or data roles, preferably in retail, payments, or fintech.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker Studio, Mixpanel).

  • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets for modeling and analysis.

  • Experience in data science with Python, especially for data processing, automation, or geospatial analysis, is a plus.

  • Familiarity with geospatial tools, APIs, or libraries (e.g., Google Maps API, GeoPandas) is a strong plus.

  • Experience in extracting and working with external datasets (e.g., POI / location data) for business use cases is highly preferred.

  • Proven track record of driving end-to-end analytics initiatives with measurable business impact.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex insights for diverse audiences.
