Job Description:
Job Summary: Generally responsible for performing engineering task to support the complete design of small and large civil engineering projects using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under general supervision at our office in Mobile, AL. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.
- Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
- Produce medium complex, complete design calculations and assignments.
- Produce reports for client and/or regulatory agencies.
- Provide design assistance on larger and more complex assignments.
- Checking calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.
- Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies.
- Assist with drafting of plans and details for the completion of engineering drawings.
- Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support.
- Develop written construction specifications that define the scope of work, provide specific instruction, and prescribe quality standards.
- Perform land development and zoning code research for civil-site development projects.
- Work with discipline lead engineer in identifying scope changes in projects.
- Review and check submittal drawings and documentation.
- Ability to lead small size teams in coordinating civil efforts and keeping the team focused on scope, schedule and budget.
- Assist with estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of civil/structural work.

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional licensure is required. Engineer in Training (EIT) registration may be considered if Professional licensure can be obtained in the first six (6) months of employment.
Experience: This position requires up to 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in civil-site engineering in the industrial setting. Previous experience in commercial, government, or infrastructure setting may be considered for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining focus and re-prioritizing as necessary to meet multiple commitments.
- Knowledge and application of associated standards (ASCE, ACI, AASHTO, AREMA, NRCS, NFPA, etc.).
- Working knowledge of civil stormwater analysis software (SSA, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and/or ICPR) including operating and interpreting results.
- Ability to actively listen and ascertain the needs of Teammates and Clients.
- Ability to work with a team to complete small and large projects.
- Able to assist with the development of presentations of Hargrove Engineers & Constructors services.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Civil3D software is a plus.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed, and able to provide interoffice execution leadership and support.
