Assistant Controller (Senior Manager), South Asia

As the South Asia Assistant Controller (Senior Manager), your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the accounting operations for multiple locations within the South Asia region. This involves coordinating accounting activities such as financial reporting, accounts payables, account receivable, payroll and tax compliance across the various entities and product divisions in the South Asia region.

Your role will involve supporting the implementation of ERP/Accounting System and ensuring the period close process is timely, accurate, efficient and compliance with relevant local regulations. You will also be responsible for monitoring financial performance, analyzing data, and providing strategic recommendations to improve financial processes and controls within your region.

Additionally, as head of accounting for the South Asia Finance Team, you will lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Overall, your goal is to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the accounting function across multiple locations, supporting the organizations financial goals and objectives while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and integrity across the company's entities in the South Asia region.

Job Responsibilities:

You will be reporting directly to the Asia/Pacific VP Finance for the reporting and functional aspects of this role and oversee the overall accounting and financial activity as well as statutory and management reporting for the company's entities in South Asia.

This will include the accurate and timely preparation and analyses of all facets of the financial operations, including financial statement preparation, cash management, variance analyses vs budget/forecast, coordinating to incorporate accounts receivable, accounts payable information, and all other fiscally related duties for the companys operations.

  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting (including incorporating information from accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliation, credit card expense report reconciliation, cash applications, collections and claims)

  • Responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial processing month end close, cash management reports, and balance sheet reconciliation

  • Responsible for cash management, including performing international wire transfers, payments, and maintaining lines of credit

  • Maintain professional relationships with company's staff, partners, clients and vendors, and external consultants. Coordinating closely with the company's Finance teams based in Singapore and the locations in the South Asia region.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, bank reports, and various detailed analysis reports

  • Contract outside services for tax preparation, auditing, banking, and other financial needs as necessary

  • Engaging directly with the companys external auditors and tax advisors

  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement

  • Ensure all processes comply with the company's policies and procedures in tandem with local and international regulations and legislation

  • Provide insightful information and expectations to department heads to aid in long-term and short-term decision making

  • Responsible for overseeing and leading the finance team in India including training and performance management, planning and maintaining work tasks, systems and procedures that enable and encourage the optimum performance of the team and other resources

People Management (South Asia Finance Teams)

  • Coaching and mentoring of new staff and on-going development of existing staff to ensure they are meeting company objectives

  • Recruit, develop and maintain a motivated team of competent analysts

  • Evaluate staff performance of direct reports, and manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets

  • Provide clear direction and accountability as team manager

  • Develop IKOs/KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.

  • Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department

  • Manage unplanned staff turnover, employee development, succession planning, and employee accountability and performance.
